Ramayana 2026 Movie Controversies

Ramayana has provoked several controversies even before its theatrical release. Because the film is based on a religious and culturally important epic, audiences have strong expectations about its characters, music, costumes and visual presentation.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Casting as Lord Rama:

When the makers announced Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, some people on social media raised questions about whether he was appropriate for the role.

The discussion became more heated because of older interviews and remarks about the actor’s personal food habits of eating non-veg. Some viewers felt that the person playing Lord Rama should follow a specific lifestyle.

Others supported the casting and suggested that an actor’s personal life should not decide whether they can portray a character.

Criticism of A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer’s Music:

The film’s music became a major topic of discussion. A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer joined hands to create the background score and musical experience.

However, some listeners were critical of the musical style of promotional songs such as Mangal Rang and Ravana Tandav. Some felt that certain musical influences did not match their expectations of a traditional mythological film.

Rahman defended his creative approach and explained that music demands experimentation and time.

Script Rights and Copyright Dispute:

The Ramayana movie also faced a legal discussion related to intellectual property rights.

A company associated with the earlier development of the Ramayana project raised concerns about the rights to certain script materials. The issue brought questions about the ownership and use of creative material into the public discussion.

After the movie Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor has more projects to complete; his new upcoming movies are Love & War, Brahmastra Part Two: Dev, and Ramayana Part 2.
